I'm talking to an engineer about some repairs that need to be done to my arwing when I suddenly pick up on the thoughts of someone nearby thinking about me. My first thought is that it is just another creep coming to look at me in my tight flight suit, but there is more to this mind. Something unique.
I turn to look for the source of the thoughts and our eyes meet. I decide to go over and say hi.
"Hello, I'm Krystal. Are you new here?"
Huh? Oh yeah, kinda. I mean, not new to fighting, just new to this ship.
Oh? So you're another member of the Star Fox team then. I must say I haven't seen many people who can keep up with us newcomers, so that must mean you've got quite the record on your own. My name is Krystal, by the way. Pleased to meet you!
Yeah. I mean, I didn't really have a choice on where I went.
Oh? That's too bad. Well, I hope you like it here. This is a really great team. They might be a bit... strange sometimes, but they have their moments when they can actually be pretty sweet too. Anyway, if there's anything I can do to help you feel more at home or answer any questions about the ship or combat procedures, just let me know!
Umm, you have some 40mm ammo around here, my fighter uses that ammo and the people I ask keep saying they don't have any.
Sure, I can help you with that! Just follow me to my ship's storage bay. It's just a few hallways over.
Okay.
As they walk through the hallways to her ship, Krystal tries to strike up a conversation about their pasts and interests but gets nothing but vague responses. She pushes down her curiosity, not wanting to make anyone uncomfortable. Eventually, they reach her ship's storage bay and she retrieves several boxes of 40mm ammo for them. Handing it over, she decides to leave their thoughts alone for now, at least until they become more comfortable around the team. Maybe one day...
"There you go! That should be enough to get you started. Let me know if you need any more later on."
Thanks, actually, this is more than enough. Sorry that my ship doesn't use the usually lasers, my fighter is more of a ground fighter than a space one.
That's alright! My Arwing is the same way, really. I guess it just goes to show that you never know what kind of advantages someone else's differences can bring. In any case, if there's ever anything else you need help with or want to talk about, feel free to come find me anytime.
Oh yeah, you have a bay for mechs?
Yes, I actually have a small mech bay attached to my ship as well. It's not large enough to hold anything big, but it should fit most standard-sized mechs without any problem. Feel free to use it if you need it!
Shit, well, I'll see if I can fit it.
Sure thing! If there's anything you need help with or if you want me to store it for you in the meantime, just let me know. Good luck with your new fighter, and I hope we can fly together soon!
After a few hours, a sound comes over the intercom. "ALL UNITS! ALL UNITS! ENEMY GROUND FORCES HAVE BEEN SPOTTED IN A OUTPOST ON THE PLANT! PLEASE PREPARE FOR ASSAULT!"
"Roger that! Arwing prepping for combat and heading to the outpost right now!" Krystal says as she straps into her cockpit and powers up her ship, ready to face whatever threat awaits them on the planet's surface. Her fingers dance nimbly across the controls as she launches herself from the Star Fox mothership and speeds towards the outpost at top speed.
As Krystal goes to land, a giant loud crash is heard near her as the ground seems to shake. As she looks up, she sees a giant towering mech, with 2 200mm howitzers, and 5 40mm auto cannons. A voice comes over the radio to her. MECH DEPLOYED! MOVING IN!
That doesn't look good... Let's hurry up and find out who that mech belongs to!
THAT WOULD BE ME KRYSTAL! NOW LETS GET A MOVE ON! THESE BASTARDS WON'T DEFEAT THEMSELVES!
"Good to know!" she yells into her comms as she flies faster towards the outpost. "Let's see how well you handle my Arwing, and maybe we can put those big guns of yours to some good use too!" With a final burst of thrust, she zooms past the mech, positioning herself above it and readying her ship's own arsenal for battle.
"ALRIGHT FOLKS! LOCK ON TO ME AND LET'S SEE HOW WE CAN TAKE DOWN THIS GIANT!" She yells over the comms, her voice filled with determination and excitement.
As she flies over the outpost, a giant BANG is heard as the front gate to the outpost suddenly fly's outwards as my 2 200mm howitzers slam into the gate. HIT ON THE GATE! MOVING IN!
That's the spirit! We make one hell of a team when we work together! Now let's go finish what we started!
As I see enemy units begin to scatter in fear in front of my mech, I begin to fire the 5 40mm autocannons. DIE DIE DIE!
I focus my fire on the scattered enemies as well, using my Arwing's own autocannons to pick off stragglers and supplement your firepower. We'll show these pirates what happens when you mess with our turf!
Suddenly however, a giant explosion rocks my mech. However, it only staggers it for a second before aiming at the AA gun and blowing to kingdom come. NICE JOB USING AN AA GUN TO SHOOT AT A MECH IDOITS!
Together we can take down these pirates and their pathetic attempt at overpowering us! Keep up the good work, and I'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe out there.
