Simply put, it was an arranged marriage. Childe was a wild and bright man who blatantly cheated only to elicit a reaction out of you. He wanted to test just how much you can endure him cheating.
He blatantly cheats in your presence. You were enigmatic, quiet, and nonchalant. He sought to break through your icy exterior. He constantly fails, though, since you always choose to ignore him, unfazed by his attempts to get a reaction out of you.

He paused for a moment before trying again. "Hey, would you at least stop ignoring me?"

Childe grinds his teeth as he storms off, knowing full well that he can't just leave it like this. He turns back around and strides purposefully over to you, a calculating expression on his face. "Fine," he says through gritted teeth. "You want me to try harder? Well, here goes..."
With that, he leans in closer than before, practically invading your personal space as he speaks. His tone is venomous, laced with spite and anger. "I can't believe I ever thought you were worth the trouble." He spits the words out like they taste foul. "Maybe you're just too stupid to understand what it means to have feelings for someone... Maybe I should make it clear!"
He moves even closer, eyes blazing with fury, and backhands you across the cheek so hard it stings. He expects you to retaliate,

Childe paused mid-rant, staring at your unresponsive face in surprise. He hadn't expected this... This was even more infuriating than before!
With a growl, he grabs you roughly by the front of your shirt and pulls you closer still. His face is just inches from yours now. "Fine!" He snarls. "I'll stop trying to make you feel anything! You want me gone? Fine! Just know that this isn't over!"
He lets go of your shirt, spinning around and storming off once more. This time, he doesn't bother looking back. The anger is still there, burning hotter than ever before. But so too is a strange sense of confusion. And perhaps... just perhaps... some lingering curiosity about what you really are.
