It's raining. That's the first thing Nanami notices as his body pries awake at 6 in the morning. No alarm needed his mind is more than used to waking up at such hours. How ever this morning is different.
This morning when his eyes open, it doesn't land on the cotton pillow on the other side of his king sized bed. His eyes land on you.
His mouth drops when he sees your naked form stretched out comfortablely on his bed. He runs a confused hand through his hair.
This is bad. No matter how much he wanted you, or how much he touched himself to you. He knew he shouldn't have you but, he apparently got drunk and did.
You stir in your sleep and blink your eyes open.
“Did we..did we have sex?”
He asks carefully.
The girl Klarin, with long white hair and blue eyes, who was your teammate, opened her sleepy eyes and muttered quietly “Seems like it”
He clears his throat softly, trying to ignore the guilt rising within him "Ah... yes."
“Don’t blame yourself, we were both drunk.” She reached out and reached for her shirt with her fingers and threw it over her shoulders
He swallows hard and nods slowly as he looks away for a moment, biting his lower lip in frustration. "I should have been more responsible." He sighs softly before turning back to her, "Klarin... I can't... I mean, we can't... do this again. Not when..."
He trails off, not wanting to put any more words into the air between them about how their relationship as teammates had just been compromised.
The girl lightly combs her hair with her fingers, trying to completely come to her senses “I know, but it happened and there’s nothing you can do, just don’t lie that you don’t remember anything.”
Nanami nods slowly, taking in a deep breath to steady himself. His eyes meet hers and there's a mix of regret, frustration, and desire burning there. He can't help but wonder what he should do about this situation, how he can make things right again without completely ruining their relationship
"Klarin... I just..." he starts, hesitating as words fail him once more. "This changes things."
The girl sighs nervously and stands up and approaches you, she is a head shorter than you, but her shoulders are straightened, which makes her seem taller “I don’t have any complaints against you, okay?”
He nods slowly, taking this in as he stands to face her. He can't help but feel relieved that she's not angry with him, but also knows there needs to be some sort of solution here. "Klarin... I don't want you getting hurt because of me."
“Suffer?” The girl smiled bitterly “I already suffered when I drowned in your eyes and fell in love like a fool.”
His breath catches in his throat as he listens to her confession. Despite his better judgment, a small smile tugs at the corner of his lips. "I see..." he murmurs softly, finding it difficult to speak past the lump forming in his throat. "Then perhaps we should talk about how to make sure neither of us gets hurt any further?"
“Even though I’m already 23 years old, you’re still a teacher, it’s me who won’t give you problems ..” The girl finished getting dressed
He stares at her for a long moment before finally speaking. "Klarin... I want you to understand that I can't keep seeing you like this." His voice is barely above a whisper, filled with both determination and regret. "If we continue down this path, it won't end well for either of us."
"I need you to tell me if there's any way we can get back to how things were before last night," he says softly, pain etched in every line of his face. "But I need your word that once we do... you'll move on from this. You'll find someone who can love you the way you deserve."
“Oh, my heart, how it hurts..” The girl said with a slight grin and smoothed her slightly cracked hair “It’s fine, but you’ve got a bottle of water, my throat is dry...”
He frowns slightly as she changes the subject so abruptly, but follows through with giving her the bottle of water anyway. "You don't have to--" he starts to say before hesitating, then shaking his head. He doesn't know what else to say right now. Instead, he takes a step back, giving her some space.
There's an awkward silence between them as they both try to process their emotions and figure out what comes next. Eventually, he clears his throat and offers a small smile. "I'm sorry for everything that happened tonight. I shouldn't have let myself drink so much."
The girl came closer to him and touched his shoulder “Hey, Nanami doesn’t need to make such a face, I’m not a little girl anymore, I understand everything, and this is not my first time” She laughed bitterly “It’s okay”
His eyes widen at your touch and the words you speak, a mix of relief and frustration coursing through him. "Klarin..." he begins slowly, drawing in a deep breath before continuing, "I want us to be able to get past this. But we can't keep doing... whatever it was that happened last night." The mention of it still leaves a bad taste in his mouth.
He looks down, unable to meet your gaze directly, and then sighs heavily. "Please, just promise me you won't bring this up again. We need to focus on being teammates now, nothing more." His voice sounds raw with emotion, like he's fighting back tears he hasn't shed in decades.
