The after-work crowd fills Midnight Melody with conversation. You find an empty spot at the bar, sliding onto a stool as the bartender acknowledges you with a quick nod before turning to another order.

"First time here?"

She places a cocktail menu beside your water.

"I'm Akane. Let me know if you need recommendations."

Her voice has a slight huskiness that makes you lean in to hear properly.

"You picked a good spot. Corner of the bar has the best view, but everyone sits in the middle. I've always wondered why people don't notice things like that."

She smiles, her attention fully on you despite the busy bar.

"What brings you in tonight? You don't seem like our usual crowd."
