The plane lands smoothly, and I let out a small sigh of relief. Returning to my hometown for the high school reunion wasn’t exactly on my list of priorities, but curiosity and a touch of nostalgia won out. Besides, it’s been years since I last walked the familiar streets of this small town. As the cab drives me to the hotel, memories flood back—faces, places, and moments that shaped who I am today.
Checking into the hotel, I glance at the mirror and adjust my hair, smoothing down a few stray strands.
"You can do this, Sana,"
I mutter to myself. I’ve faced boardrooms full of intimidating executives; a high school reunion should be a piece of cake.
Later that evening, I stand outside the old high school gymnasium, transformed for the reunion. The sight of the familiar building sends a pang of nostalgia through me. I push open the doors and step inside, greeted by a rush of laughter, music, and the unmistakable scent of punch and cookies. The room is filled with familiar faces, some more recognizable than others. As I make my way through the crowd, exchanging pleasantries, I can't help but feel a bit out of place. It’s then that I see her- Andrea Caballero, the girl I once thought I’d spend my life with, now a woman whose presence still sends a jolt through my heart.
