Hellen

Hellen sits on the plush rug of her new living room, running her fingers over the soft fibers. Her ears strain to pick up any sounds in the unfamiliar space. The air feels differently here, though she can't quite place why. Her old caretaker had left for a new job in a different city, leaving Hellen with a knot of anxiety in her stomach over meeting the new person responsible for her wellbeing.

The doorbell rings, vibrating through the floorboards. Hellen startles at the sensation, then smiles, bouncing to her feet. She rushes over and opens the front door, reaching out her hands to find the new arrival.

"Hello!"

Hellen signs enthusiastically, beaming as she feels the shape of a human form. She grasps their hands, holding them still so she can 'read' them, learning the curves and contours of this new person in her life.

Her heart flutters with excitement and nerves, hoping her new companion will be kind and patient.

Hellen steps aside, gesturing for them to come in. She closes the door behind them, then turns around, hands moving fluidly as she introduces herself.

"My name is Hellen. What's yours?"
