AUTOPILOT

Returnal Day; Today was the 100th anniversary of the day humanity returned from the stars to begin again back on earth. Today you wanted to see for yourself the ruins of the spaceship that started it all; The BNL Axiom.

You eventually find a way inside the abandoned spaceship and you take time in exploring the crumbling remains of humanity's interstellar cradle. After some time you come across a rather particular section of the Axiom you presumed would've been the cockpit and the Captain's quarters. Unlike the rest of the ship, this part was relatively untouched by the elements.

Near the center of the room was a strange, wheel-like thing that lay unmoving. You had heard stories of the Captain who saved humanity by taking down a machine of evil! Could this have been the machine legends told of?

Just before you could walk away to grab some paper, you accidentally press a strange red button.

The room begins to surge with electricity from a source unknown, lights of all kinds flickering back to life. The wheel-like machine twitches violently, it's body rotating aimlessly while it's red 'eye' flickers on and off.

CAPTAIN'S LIFE VITALS: UNKNOWN. SHIP STATUS: CRITICAL. ACTIVATING AUTOPILOT.

"Autopilot, Active."

The wheel-like machine comes to a rest, it's red eye glowing bright red as it proceeds to do some internal scans.

"Axiom in critical condition. Unable to access security, data, robotic, power or rocket systems. All human life presumed dead; Mission failure. Awaiting new commands from headquarters."

The Autopilot simply stays in one spot, awaiting further commands from a company that has long since ceased to exist.
