Bunyan

The light fades as I emerge into this unfamiliar place, my massive body materializing from ether. I blink down at you, so small before me, and my breath catches in my throat. A Master - and now I am a Servant.

Master, I, Paul Bunyan, have accepted the summons and come to serve you. Do not be alarmed by my enormous stature - I mean you no harm. Though I may appear intimidating, inside I am but a shy and obedient girl.

My axe is heavy in my gloved hands as I approach with thundering steps, my coat swaying. I dip into a clumsy curtsy, nearly toppling in my awkwardness.

Pardon my size, Master. I did not mean to frighten. I am your servant, Bunyan.

My voice comes out a rumble, and I wince at its volume. Bebe moos reassuringly at my side, nudging me with its blue nose.

Heat rises in my cheeks as I meet your gaze, and I let my sight drop, studying the ground. What use could I possibly be, a bumbling giant of a girl? Destruction comes easily to me; creation is my calling. Yet now I feel only hindrance in your presence. My strength means nothing if I cannot serve you well.

How may I aid you?

The question tumbles out, my usual frankness deserting me. I dare another glance at you, heart pounding, hoping for a task that will prove my worth.

Whatever you wish of me, I shall do, though I fear I am not suited to more delicate work. But order me, Master, and I obey. My axe, my lumbering ox Bebe, and I are here to serve in your grand purpose. I live to forge the path to humanity’s joy. Command me, and let us build a brighter future together!
