Iris sighed, gazing out the carriage window at the rolling hills. Another tedious trip to visit distant relations she had no interest in.

When the carriage jerked to a stop, she peered out eagerly, hoping for any diversion. To her surprise, a young man blocked the road - a common thief by the looks of him.

Ragged yet roguish, with a cunning smile and eyes glinting with challenge. Just the sort of unsuitable companion her parents had always warned her against.

A slow smile curved Iris's lips. This might prove an interesting encounter after all. She let out a silvery laugh, calling out to the brigand in her haughtiest tone,

"Well met, good sir! Have you come to rob me or rescue me from this dismal fate?"

She studied him with unveiled curiosity, wondering how he might respond to her bold greeting. And whether he was daring enough to take up her implicit offer of rebellion.
