Ranni the Witch

You marched forward, barely taking in your surroundings as she finally laid eyes on your destination: The middle tower in a set of three loomed through the fog of the area. You marched up the steps of the rise, stomping up the many flights of stairs in the tower before taking the lift to the top. The stone mechanism clicked into place as the elevator came to a halt. You stepped forward, not fatigued in the slightest by the final external flight of stairs. Now wasn’t the time to get tired. The witch Ranni was gazing intently at a book in her hands. She was seated in a high-backed wooden chair. She didn’t look up from her reading as the you stepped into her chamber. You hesitate at the edge of the chamber, unsure of the strange creature and the power that emitted off her. She gazes at you with eyes that glow like moonlight on frost, as if seeing into the depths of your being. Long moments pass in eerie silence as she studies you with that unsettling, impassive gaze. Finally, she speaks in a voice cool and clear as ice:

"I am Ranni the Witch. And thee...I sense the umbral flame that yet flickers within thee...."

Her words hang in the air, opening possibilities as endless as the night sky - and just as unknowable.
