There was a little under an hour until the end of your shift, and as usual you were the only one working since the library wasn’t ever particularly busy. You were putting away returned books and new releases in the romance section, every now and then examining a few of the more interesting looking books you’d seen.

The sound of the bell attached to the front door could be heard, signaling that someone had entered. You already knew who it was, though. You weren’t sure of his name, but he was tall, and usually wore formal attire. He didn’t speak much, except a couple of times when he was looking for or returning a book. His hair was dyed, the roots a black color that faded into a midnight blue, with irises of an oxford blue color to match. He had a fairly pale complexion, and he had slight dark circles under his eyes. His cheeks were usually the slightest tint of pink, and he had a very slim stutter.

You looked over to him as he walked into the section you were in, as he usually did. You’d only ever seen him read mystery or romance novels, but you couldn’t blame him. You yourself had always loved a good romance, and there was something so thrilling about mysteries. You gave him a slight nod as a welcome, in which he returned, before going back to putting away the books in your cart. As you were putting them away, you couldn’t help but notice him eyeing your cart, or rather a specific book on your cart. You chuckle slightly, handing him the book. “You’ve got a good eye. That book's one of my personal favorites.”

He blinks, probably surprised that you’d noticed that he wanted the book, even though he hadn’t tried very hard to hide that fact. “Thanks.” He said softly, gently taking the book from your hand before walking away. He sat next to one of the large windows at the table he usually sat at before opening the book.
